As his second grade year comes to an end, he is acing all of his spelling tests and reading on a fourth grade level. The Somerset staff are very proud of all Matthew's accomplishments. With more hard work and dedication he will continue to push the boundaries of his education and learning!

Faranda Farm

The students at NHS School Somerset visited Faranda's Farm on October 24. They learned the difference between pumpkins and gourds, enjoyed a hay ride, fed the animals, acted out a story, and even milked a cow! Each student took home a small pumpkin as their souvenir.

NHS Schools Host Open House

NHS Schools Host Open HouseThe directors at the NHS Schools in Apollo, Ellsworth, Herminie, Greensburg, Latrobe, and Somerset worked together to participate in an Open House event on October 3 to provide stakeholders and potential referral sources additional information regarding newly updated programs offered within the NHS Schools. The event included student led tours, informational packets, and light refreshments for local businesses, service providers, school districts and interested families.

The six schools, The Cosmo Café, and Skill Development Center had several visitors from various locations throughout the community. The NHS Schools within the Western Region hope to make this an annual event each year to showcase their services and build partnerships with community members, school districts, and parents.
